- Lionel Messi has not signed any contract with PSG.
- In June 2023, Messi’s current contract will expire.
- Messi’s potential return to Barcelona has been mentioned.
Last month, Lionel Messi attained the pinnacle of success when he led the Argentine team to World Cup victory in Qatar, showing his absolute gameplay. After Kylian Mbappe’s fruitless hat-trick, the South American powerhouses upset France at the Lusail Stadium in a nail-biting contest that went to penalties.
The victory in Qatar served as Messi’s career’s pinnacle achievement, and it will be intriguing to watch what he accomplishes moving forward. His two-year deal with Paris Saint-Germain expires this summer, leaving his future up in the air.
Since a contract has not yet been signed, his future is now unclear. According to Barcelona-based TV journalist Gerard Romero, Messi has changed his mind about signing a contract extension with PSG after winning the World Cup.
The French daily RMC, which insists Messi will stay at the Parc des Princes, refuted these allegations. In his first two-year deal, Messi does have the option to extend his contract by one year. According to a number of media sources, PSG and one of the greatest footballers in history are in negotiations to sign a new two-year contract.
There have been rumors regarding Messi’s potential return to Barcelona over the past few months. The World Cup champion has also been extensively connected with a move to the USA, namely to Inter Miami, a Major League Soccer team owned by David Bechham (MLS).
Messi left Barcelona in 2021 after being unable to agree to a new deal. Messi played for the Catalan Giants for over 20 years, winning 10 La Liga championships and four Champions League crowns. He has also garnered seven important Ballon d’Or victories.
